My Good Luck Charm
So many people think the number 13 is unlucky. Not for me. The number 13 brings me good luck and is one of my favorite numbers. What brings you good luck?

Every year I try to add a new way to be more “green.” In the classroom we recycle bottles. At home I recycle bottles, paper and glass, and send my used clothing to the women’s shelter. This year I pledge to be better at remembering my grocery bags every time I shop. So many times I leave them at home when I go shopping. :/.
How do you plan to be green this year?
I have added a link for our online store for Scholastic Book Orders. This is a wonderful opportunity to buy quality books and games far below retail prices. What a great way to add to your own child’s library, stock up on gift ideas, and buy the latest games and technology that enhances your student’s education. You will also be supporting our class with bonus points every time you shop. The extra bonus of shopping exclusively online is our class receives a free book with every order and there is no hassle with writing checks and filling out forms. If you have any questions please email me directly. Happy Shopping
We all had a great 1st day at school. There were a lot of routines and rules to remember! WOW! I was so proud of everyone who could tell me what they learned today. This week we will take it slow, meeting new friends and getting into the daily routines. Please remember to send a healthy snack with your child, even if they are buying school lunch. It is a long morning and they all get very hungry. Also remember our class is the peanut free class, so do not send any nuts. If your child will not eat anything else, please talk to me so I can insure the safety of the other children.
I am looking forward to a great first week and fantastic year.

I love a long hot shower, but I have come to realize I am wasting a lot of water and electrity heating my shower. My green goal for 2011 is to take shorter showers so to conserve water and lessen my heating bill.
Did you know that you can send in your empty plastic bottles to the La Costa Heights Recyling program and earn money for our school? How cool is a fundraiser that you do not have to spend your own money on?! I will award your children WOWL awards for bringing in bottles too. It’s a win-win situation. Our goal is to be the best recycling classroom in the whole school.
Collect your bottles througout the week and and bring them in Friday morning. Clear bottles only, but rememeber that includes not only water, but some juices and teas. Collect them after the soccer game or t-ball game. Each bottle brings in money to our school.
Thank you for your support!
